The Star Ferry
No matter how many times I visit Hong Kong I never tire of the trip across Victoria Harbour on the iconic green and white Star Ferries. Founded in 1888 as the Kowloon Ferry Company, and adopting its present name in 1898, the current fleet consists of twelve ferries. The Star Ferry currently operates two routes - Central to Tsim Sha Tsui, and Wanchai to Tsim Sha Tsui. These wonderful ferries carry over 70,000 passengers a day, or 26 million passengers a year, and have been rated first in the “Top 10 Most Exciting Ferry Rides” poll by the Society of American Travel Writers.
